1. Incorporate keywords into your copy Write thoughtful descriptions of your products.
SEO Keywords are phrases or words that accurately describe an item product or service on a site. Keywords are search terms or inquiries that potential customers could use when using an online search engine. Examples of keywords “large green velvet cushion covers”. Keywords should be incorporated into your product and website descriptions.
Every page on your site can be ranked for multiple keywords. If your website contains a large number of pages, like a clothing store for instance the chance for you to rank for keywords is far larger. If you sell 300 products on your site and you include keywords on every page and description of the product the keywords on your page will be extensive.
For smaller sites with less products or services, an effective way to increase the amount of keywords you have on your website is to create regular blog posts and articles.
It can be tempting to include as many keywords in your content as you can, but your site will be penalized through search engines. The keywords you choose to use must be pertinent to the content of the page and not overused or duplicated. Select unique and diverse keywords that relate to the content of the page.
2. Make alt-text available to your images.
The images you have on your website could also contribute to your SEO. Each image will be graded by search engines on the title of the image as well as the alt-text of the image. Alt text for images is similar to a key word, it’s a term or phrase which accurately describes the content of the image. It also relates to the keywords and content on the page.
Figure 1. depicts the red t-shirt. The caption of the image is typically “Plain Red T Shirt”. The alt-text for your image might include “plain red t shirt for men sizes S-XXL”
Alt text is also helpful for those who have additional accessibility requirements, such as those who have difficulty seeing Screen readers read the alt-text text to the user so that they can comprehend the meaning of the photo. Alt text may also be displayed when the image isn’t showing or the link to the image is broken.
3. Write Meta Descriptions
Meta descriptions are small snippets of information that provide a description of the content of a webpage. Meta descriptions appear on the search results pages under the page’s title. See Fig 2. Meta descriptions must be engaging and well-written to entice a user to click your site within search results. This will increase the number of clicks you get.
Click through rates are how many people click your site in relation to the number of impressions your website gets. The Click-Through Rate (CTR) refers to the quantity of clicks your website receives multiplied by the number of times that your site is displayed in search results: clicks/ impressions = CTR
For instance, if you had three clicks and 100 impressions, you’re CTR would be 3percent.
4. Get Backlinks
Backlinks are hyperlinks to your website that originate from other sources. This gives your website more authority. If other websites or businesses have endorsed you, it is considered to be endorsement. It makes search engines believe that your company is reliable as well as an expert on the topic or the product you are selling. It ensures that the website’s content is accurate and reliable. More backlinks that you can get will boost your rank of your website in search engines.
There are a variety of ways to gain backlinks, but since they are beneficial for your SEO strategy, you must offer a compelling reason for other websites to link to your site. A few ways to gain backlinks include guest blogs review, reciprocal backlinking newspaper and press.
5. Use Heading Tags
Headings are listed in order in importance. A heading tag H1 is typically the primary title of a page and web page. Later headings are used to organize large chunks of text, making it easier to read every heading counts towards your SEO on the page. It is important to view your headings as being similar to keywords, they should be pertinent to the content and also engaging.
Only use one H1 tag for each webpage. It might appear to be an ideal idea to have all of your headings H1, however this can have negative SEO consequences. This is a bad idea and can be penalized for search engines. If you’ve designed your site and its content properly, your heading tags will be appearing naturally.
